The Auburn Tigers faced off in LSU’s home field of Baton Rouge for the 2019 Tiger Bowl. After an uneventful first quarter, the officials would take a more prominent stance in reviewing close calls.
Auburn might have gotten on the board first with a FG, but in the second quarter QB Joe Burrow (senior) would pass for a 20 yd TD to Terrace Marshall. His TD was reciprocated by a Auburn TD that may not have been accepted 5 years ago. With the help of his offense, QB Bo Nix (freshman) was pushed passed the goal line, a rule more recently adopted by the NCAA.
At the half it was even at 10-a-piece. Multiple players from Auburn were removed due to injuries, but their defense still kept LSU at a season low of just 23 points (averaging 50 a game) — Final 23-20 LSU. Auburn is now 6-2 after this loss and will play an unranked Ole Miss next Saturday November 2, 2019.
Joe Burrow went 32 for 42 (76.2%) for 321 yards and had a rushing TD. His teammate, LSU’s RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a season high of 136 rushing yards. #2 LSU is now 8-0 and will play #1 Alabama in two weeks!
