After coming off a 13-1 win over the Braves in the Division Series, the St. Louis Cardinals had difficulty taking on the Nationals pitching staff.
Albin Sanchez would lead his team to victory, pitching a near no-hitter until the bottom of the 8th inning. He was golden in St. Louis and his predecessor Sean Dootlittle was able to close out the game with just four outs to go.
Among the notable performances was Nationals second baseman Howie Kendrick, who got on base in the second inning and was brought home of an RBI by Yan Gomes. Kendrick later had an RBI of his own in the 7th inning.
For a first time NLCS appearance, the Nationals left the St. Louis home crowd disappointed.
Game 2 will take place on Saturday October 12, 2019 in St. Louis at 4:08 PM on TBS.
And Game 1 of the ALCS will take place right after, at 8:08 PM in Houston on FOX.
