Maryland Falls Short After Multiple Opportunities

And so began the upsets. #21 in the NCAA’s top 25 fell short to unranked Temple this Saturday. The fourth quarter was jam packed with action as Temple was able to retake the lead by 4 with Yeboah scoring with 7 minutes left on the clock.

But this was only the start of what would become a tension filled game. Maryland’s special teams player DJ Turner, had a 55 yard punt return, putting Maryland’s offense within their own red zone. After four unsuccessful plays, it would be Temple who needed to punt again.

Temple punter Barry would only punt for a whole 7 yards, putting Maryland within striking distance once again. The top 25 ranked team in the NCAA had another easy opportunity to convert within their own red zone, but failed to do so for the second time in just a few short minutes.

#21 Maryland were unranked before beating previously ranked #21 Syracuse last week, and will most likely lose their ranking after this loss today. They will face #13 Penn State on Friday September 27th at 8PM in Maryland’s home field hoping to regain a spot on the top 25.
